The Best Parenting Books - Raising Resilient, Empathetic Kids

Creating the best parenting books for new and experienced parents, Frank Dixon joins us on the blog today, sharing his story and showing us how to raise successful and thriving children.

His new book, How to Raise a Leader: 7 Essential Parenting Skills for Raising Children Who Lead, is now available on Amazon and Audible in Audiobook Format.

“Raise children who are responsible, helpful, and lift up people to their highest potential to make the world a better place for us all.” - Frank Dixon

Meet Author Frank Dixon

When his daughter was born in 2011, author Frank Dixon found himself searching for his life’s purpose. Though he already had a knack for writing, it wasn’t taking him in any one direction.

After spending time considering his life experiences, he realized he didn’t want other people to grow up facing similar challenges as he during his complicated childhood.

It was at that time when he realized he could use his passion for writing to share his experience and teach and empower others. From there, he set out on a path to write the Best Parenting Book series, which now includes over fourteen books for parents, focusing on topics that encourage positivity, communication and transparency in the family unit. These books are relevant for parents of kids as young as preschool through the teen years.

Frank’s books are easy-to-read, fluff-free books that offer actionable advice and proven strategies for readers to see success in their lives. He wants readers to have an overall better parenting experience and be able to build a functional and effective family unit, while raising kids who grow up to be successful and flourishing adults.

Frank Dixon believes that the world is made up of those who follow and those who lead. He shares with us that while “most people are followers, every person is capable of becoming a great and effective leader.”

During 2020, when every single one of us was faced with major challenges, the entire world suffered tremendously. Dixon’s book, 7 Essential Parenting Skills for Raising Children Who Lead, is aimed at starting a transformation, providing parents with skills and knowledge to set kids up for success, so that the world can heal and recover faster from some of those challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and a rise in hate crimes.

Dixon shares “Leaders get criticized, are under pressure and it's not an easy title to carry; however, this world needs more leaders to steer humanity in the right direction.” His book teaches parents to raise kids who are honest, empathetic, resilient individuals who have strong communication skills and are ready to take charge of their own lives.

The book talks about the top seven leadership skills parents can teach their kids, how to instill a positive mindset, and how to teach kids how to overcome obstacles with ease. It helps parents raise children who are ready to take responsibility for their actions and bounce back from mistakes so that they can live to their fullest potential.

As an author, his biggest challenge has been deciding how to solve his audience’s problems and tactfully decide which topics to focus on. He has seen tremendous growth and expansion, which has been exciting for him. His proudest accomplishment in life has been the birth of his daughter, who is a tremendous source of inspiration to Dixon, and brings him such happiness.

For anyone looking to write a book, Frank encourages you to “find your inspiration, discover your passion and stick with it.” Though it can sometimes feel like a long process, it is well worth it. “Be patient with yourself and when you have the inspiration for thoughts and ideas always write them down and keep them as organized as possible so you can refer back to them.” He advises authors to write about topics that bring them to life and excite them, and shares that, when your heart isn’t fully invested, the writing process becomes more of a chore.

Frank is inspired by books including All Things That Arise Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor, The Whole-Brain Child by Daniel J. Siegel MD and Tina Payne Bryson PhD, Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson, and 13 Things Strong Kids Do by Amy Morin.

When he is not writing, you can find him hiking, swimming, reading, watching movies, playing sports, listening to comedy, and spending time with friends and family.

Every child is a leader in the making.
