Finding Purpose Through Pain
Finding purpose through pain, meet author Amy Langley, author of the memoir In Search of Amy (now available on Amazon). Amy is writing to inspire others to recognize that everyone has the power to turn their obstacles around. She wants everyone to recognize that their past does not define who they are. It is truly a story that embodies what the power to pivot is really all about.
Amy Langley has felt the desire to write a book since she was teenager. After the birth of her
twins, she started blogging her journey as a mother, sharing her story through infertility. She received some great feedback on the blog. Eventually recognizing that time was passing, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a published author. It began with some research on the maternal side of her family, which further fueled her desire to share her story with others, writing about her experiences during the research process.
Her book, In Search of Amy, is a journey to finding the truth, and a reminder that, while the truth can sometimes be painful, it is also where peace and healing can truly begin. Amy is open and honest with her readers about her life without a father, constantly seeking the approval of her mother, and facing the truth to become who you truly are.
Amy’s biggest challenge as an author was finding the courage to be fully transparent in her work, without letting the worry of other people’s feelings impact her decisions. It’s this message of self-love, compassion, and self-empowerment that makes this story shine. The writing process has been very therapeutic for her.
Amy is inspired by her mother, who has always been a great writer. She also finds inspiration from some of her favorite books and authors including I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, The Darkest Child by Delores Phillips, The Matter is Life by J. California Cooper, and any of the James Patterson books.
For those looking to write a book, Amy recommends finding a proven, professional editor to help in the process. She shares “I used a friend and had to revise my book four times after publishing, and still need to revise.” Editing is a key component of the publishing process. Having another set of eyes on your work, who can help point out inconsistencies, or spot grammatical errors or punctuation mistakes goes a long way to polishing and packaging the work that you have already spent so much time and effort to craft.
When she is not writing, Amy is a hairstylist, and crafter. Her proudest accomplishments in life include having her children, and finishing college at the age of 47.
In Search of Amy is a memoir book to read for anyone who feels that their past is holding them back. Mothers, daughters, absentee fathers, those struggling with health issues, and others, can find an important message of hope in the pages of this book. As Amy shares, her story does not end with this book; rather, life starts again. The same is true for you.
